Week 3

I thought the books they made, in page 16-26 were brilliant. Very clever and creative. Something I would love to learn and have. Finding a logo and portfolio that fit's my brand is hard, and I'm not nearly as close as I thought.

Reflect on Your Work

  • What kind of work do you like to do?I'd like to create something unique and clever with Food photography and with humans/pets
  • What kind of work do you do best?Editing on those clever/unique images in Photoshop
  • Was there a particular project that you really enjoyed working on?"Quinnjamin" which I started 2013
  • How would you define your talents and skill set?
    Good, but yet not perfect.
  • How would you describe the styles, forms, and concepts with which you preferred to work?clever, unique, funny, personal
  • How would others describe your talents and the work you do?
That I follow directions and that I always pull through when something needs to get done.

That I am very creative, and I have a new perspectives on certain projects, such as portraits of dog owners and their dog.
  • Is there something missing from your body of work that you think you need?
Yes, a logo that fit's my projects.
Reflect on yourself and Interests
  • How would you describe yourself as a creative professional?
  • How would you describe yourself in general - your personality, work ethic, beliefs, etc.?
free spirited, funny, smart, and friendly
  • How would others describe you?
    Creative, unique and surreal
  • Are these qualities communicated through any of the pieces you've worked on?
Yes, "Quinnjamin" is a reflection of me. "Quinnjamin" is very creative and funny.

Personal, unique pictures of them and their pet. And for the food pictures, it's something new and refreshing to look at.
  • What types of experiences engage you?
Interacting with my client and pushing myself to create something extraordinary.
  • What do you find most interesting about the world around you?

  • What do you find most interesting about photography?
That you can capture anything you want. And it will never go anywhere. Memories fade but pictures are forever.
  • Whose work influences, attracts, and inspires you? Why?
Photographers that try things outside of their comfort zone. They push themselves and that's where beautiful art is being made. Funny photographs always get me, even when they are very silly. There is meaning behind it and I love it.
Reflect on Your Future
  • What kind of work do you want to do?
I want to create personal art work for my clients to hang in their home and be a part of my creation.I want to be a Fine Art Photographer with a hint of conceptual ideas.
  • What kind of creative do you want to be?
    My very own kind,

  • What kind of company would fit your lifestyle? Are there compromises you are willing or not willing to make (travel, moving to a different location, long hours, etc.)?
I wouldn't mind traveling to meet with a client. Moving on the other hand I wont do.(For now) I'm not alone with my decisions anymore. If I work on something that I love doing and actually having fun with I don't mind working long hours. And if it's something I don't like doing so much, well you have to start somewhere, right?
  • Where do you see yourself in one, two, or five years?
One year from now I would like assisting a photographer so I can learn more about editing. Two years I want to be on my own. Five years, I'm not sure hopefully still be doing what I love. Creating something fun to look at.
  • Is there someone in the field who you admire? Would want to emulate? Why? How did they get to where they are?
I have not yet found that person, who truly makes me follow his/her footsteps. I keep look for them though.

Week 2

Find your target audience: What are they looking for?
My target audience are people with pets.
Every pet owner wants to own pictures of their pet and I want to give them just that but funnier. My pictures are different from other pet photographers. It's more personal. It's their animal and their character it's very unique.

Find out about your competition: Who are you up against?
My competitors are all pet photographers in Washington DC.
http://www.shelleycastlephotography.com/
http://www.sarariddle.com/
http://www.pawprintsgallery.com/blog/
But none of them are similar from what I do. (So that's good).

Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of your competitions brands.
I have not yet found a photographer who has taken pictures of dogs with their personality. being funny and crazy, they are usually very nicely posed. But then again I have not yet really worked on my brand.

I talked to Barbara Karent, who is an Instructor at Harrington College of Design, if she would be willing to help me find some 'models' for my portfolio. She said yes and we will soon plan a day where I get to meet a lot of pet owners mostly Greyhounds, because Barbara helps out at a Greyhound rescue. I also have three shoots lined up with friends of mine which one of them is a cat owner, which will be interesting because I haven't had to shoot a cat before. This week my blog is a little shorter than last week, I was busy taking a new Quinnjmmin picture and that took a lit of my time.

Write down 5 words that are the most important traits that you want your business to communicate to your clients.
Personal, funny, experimental, unique and clever. This is something that is very personal for people to own. It will have their dogs in the image.

Food

To be honest I have not really had a chance to look for some inspiration yet. But I know that my images will be very creative and unique. I will continue to shoot some more where the fabric blends in with the food objects. I will most likely use the ones I have already and put them into my Portfolio. I will start looking at workbook to find some themes I might continue. (not just food, fashion too, I might use the style and shot it with food.)

Week 1

I am trying to figure out what I can do now for the last three weeks, since I knew about my two inspirations are moving away. My dog and boyfriend. They are truly the best to photograph and because of that Quinnjamin was born. I started this project because first of all I take pictures of the two of them all the time and second of all my dog has the most amazing and funny character that I have ever seen. A lot of people tell us that she's more human than dog.
Anyways I started thinking about that I should start my series with a Quinnjamin picture that I'm going to take in the next few days. This will be #1 for my portfolio. I already have an idea of what this picture will look like. It will be a birthday picture because my birthday is next Saturday and I always wanted one of a birthday.
After that I am going to take other peoples pets and I will creat a photograph just like Quinnjamin but with other people and other dogs/animals (such as cats, I will only shoot cats and dogs).
I looked on a lot of websites and I found a couple good ones but not really what I had in mind or something that came close to it.
Philip Rostron was one of them, his images were very funny and I like when pictures make people laugh. Karen Morgen has some great picture of animals as well. (shown)
Also I found this website of images which I thought great. I want to capture the emotion of the animal and I want to connect it to the owners body. Which sounds weird but also great and interesting.
http://www.designswan.com/archives/21-touching-photos-of-relationship-between-dogs-and-humans.html
People say, I say, that our dogs look like their owner. In some cases they don't but then the character reflects the dogs and/or the owner. I want to find out the connection between the owner and their pet. That something that makes them have "the same" character.

I am more of an conceptual photographer. I like to be creative and try taking something normal and make it into something more creative and clever. I would like to work with someone who edits pictures and whom I can shadow and learn from. There is never an end to on how to use different tools in Photoshop. I like working with people and be creative with them, the same goes with dogs. I also like to lose myself in food photography. And create something great, different, funny and unique.
